Jean-Claude Javillier is Associate Professor of Law, having obtained his law degree in France, in 1973.

He taught Labor Law and Comparative Industrial Relations in Bordeaux (Université de Bordeaux IV), then in Paris (Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas).

He taught Labor Law and Comparative Industrial Relations in Bordeaux (Université de Bordeaux IV), then in Paris (Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas). He has been Visiting Resident Professor at the universities of Antwerp, Hokkaido, Iowa, Leuven, Ottawa, Oxford, and Sao Paulo.

He also held the chair created in tribute to the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the International Labor Organization (David Morse Chair, University of Liège - International Institute of Labour Studies, International Labour Office, 1993).

Having worked at the International Labour Office (International Labour Organisation – ILO, in Geneva), from January 2001 to October 2007, he served as Director of the International Labour Standards Department, then Senior Advisor at the International Institute for Labour Studies. At ILO, he was president of the section on the International Society for Labour and Social Security.

He is an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Labor and Social Relations (Moscow) and of the Ibero-American Academy of Labor Law and Social Security (Sao Paulo)

Honorary President of the Association of Economic and Strategic Intelligence Overseers, and the Institute of Advanced Studies in National Defence (IE-IHEDN, Ecole Militaire, Paris), he is co-leader of the task force on “ Sports, Societal and Strategic Intelligence – i3s.”

He is also a member of cercle K2, an independent non-partisan think tank that promotes cross-sector policy and thinking on economic, social, and strategic issues. There, he heads a task force on “Radicalization and Business Enterprises.”

He is honorary President of the Association Française d’Études des Relations Professionnelles (AFERP, Paris), as well as the French Association for ILO (“AFOIT”), and he also heads the Ethics Committee on “Wage Guarantees in the Event of Bankruptcy”).

Jean-Claude Javillier has written a large number of publications, including a manual on labor law (Manuel de droit du travail, LGDJ, Paris, 7 éditions) and articles on employer-employee and industrial relations, worldwide corporate governance issues, and normative intelligence normative in France and abroad.

Having been admitted to the bar in 2008, he is a licensed lawyer but no longer practices, as he has voluntarily elected inactive status with the Paris bar association.
